Allstar and Co Charger team up to reduce charging costs for fleet drivers

Chargecard provider Allstar has paired with community charging platform Co Charger to facilitate EV ownership across the United Kingdom by renting out private EV home chargers and reducing charging costs.

The tie up will provide a near-home EV charging solution for Allstar fleet users, by allowing them to use private home chargers owned by Co Charger hosts. Whilst public EV charging costs have fallen from an average of 82p per-kilowatt hour to 77p/kWh since mid-2024, home charging still remains the cheaper option with prices dropping to as little as 6.7p/kWh.

Co Charger launched in 2020, and enables motorists with EV home chargers to rent them out to neighbours without driveways. Since its foundation, Co Charger has registered over 6,000 hosts.

Co Charger recently found that around half of EV drivers live where having a home charger is unviable.

Following the announcement, Allstar managing director, Tom Rowlands, said: “Just as fleets are in a mobility transition, we’re on a mission to extend the value of how we make fuel, EV, and business payments simple.

“By partnering exclusively with Co Charger, we’re able to offer our customers an alternative to charging on the public network or at their homes. In particular, this will benefit those that aren’t able to install their own charger such as those living in apartment buildings or without a driveway, all while reducing costs and downtime for drivers.

“This is a further example of how we’re innovating with our partners to enhance our comprehensive solution to support businesses to manage costs, saving time and money.”

Co Charger CEO, Joel Teague, added: “We’re proud to be partnering with Allstar to bring near-home EV charging to fleets across the UK. Public charging isn’t just expensive—it’s disruptive to operations.

“By enabling drivers to charge overnight, when they’re off duty, we’re helping fleets reduce costs, cut downtime, and accelerate their shift to electric.

“This is the next chapter in the UK’s EV journey, and we’re excited to be leading it together.”
