Nissan hits 250,000 sales of electric vehicles in Europe
Japanese car manufacturer Nissan is celebrating the sale of a quarter of a million fully electric vehicles.
Nissan has reached the milestone with 208,000 sales of the Nissan Leaf, the most popular electric vehicle ever, and a further 42,000 sales of the Nissan e-NV200 van.
Leon Dorssers, senior vice president, sales & marketing at Nissan AMIEO, said: “Every bright idea starts with a spark. Just as the Nissan LEAF sparked the birth of modern EVs when it was introduced in 2010, today it continues to bring innovative technologies and advanced zero-emission powertrains to drivers around the globe – making the bright idea a mass-market reality.”
Emmanuelle Serazin, director corporate sales & LCV Europe, said: “The Nissan e-NV200 has taken the electric revolution to the world of LCVs; it has offered the perfect balance of sustainability, practicality, convenience and low ownership costs and we look forward to a new chapter in our electrification strategy with a new electrified Van coming soon.”
As part of its ongoing commitment to electric mobility and progressing towards a more sustainable future, Nissan recently announced a £1 billion flagship EV Hub. Nissan describes the EV36Zero “an EV manufacturing ecosystem, establishing the blueprint for the future of the automotive industry.”
The project aims to accelerate Nissan’s journey towards carbon neutrality, as the EV36Zero hub combining electric vehicles, renewable energy and battery production, centred around Nissan’s Sunderland plant in the UK.
