Tesla Model Y seven-seater priced from £54,490 in the UK

The latest Tesla Model Y will be offered as a seven-seater when it hits the UK market in May 2026.

Aimed at the likes of the similarly priced Peugeot e-5008 and upcoming Skoda Peaq, the Model Y seven-seater will be solely available in top-spec, Long Range All-Wheel Drive trim powered by a twin-motor setup.

The additional two seats in the Model Y’s boot will come at a £2,500 premium over the standard car, bringing the starting price to £54,490.

The Elon Musk-owned manufacturer has not said whether it will offer the Model Y seven-seater in other trim levels, including the base-spec £41,990 Model Y ‘Standard’.

The extra weight from the third row of seating reduces the Model Y’s range from 391 to 372 miles. Wth the rear seats in place, the Model Y seven-seater retains 381 litres of luggage capacity, which rises to 894 litres when folded. As usual with Tesla, figures are measured to the roofline.

Alongside the extra two seats, the Tesla Model Y seven-seater differs from its five-seat cousin courtesy of a sliding, middle row that enables access to the rearmost compartment, as well as a set of USB-C charging ports for those travelling in the boot. As with the outgoing Model Y, the rear seats are intended for children due to substantially less legroom than in the front and middle compartments.

Heavily refreshed for the 2025 model year, this latest Model Y (codenamed ‘Juniper’) benefits from sharper exterior styling over its predecessor, plus much-improved build quality and refinement. The updates appeared to pay off, as Tesla’s C-segment SUV once again topped the global EV sales charts in 2025 and proved to be the best-selling EV in Europe.

Despite the Model Y’s successes, Tesla continues on an embattled path following Musk’s controversial involvement in the political world. The brand’s stalwart Model S and Model X cars have been axed to make way for the Tesla Optimus robot. Meanwhile, the brand finds itself in hot water after redacting crash reports involving its Robotaxi fleet in Austin, Texas.
