E.ON Next and Select Car Leasing offering a year’s worth of free EV charging

E.ON Next and Select Car Leasing have teamed up to offer customers a year’s worth of free EV home charging.

The offer of £134 in charging credit equates to 8,000 miles, or the distance from London to Johannesburg.

Alongside the £134 EV charging credit, the partnership offers drivers who lease an EV or plug-in hybrid through Select Car Leasing via E.ON Next’s Drive tariff a £75 discount on an E.ON Next home EV charger, plus access to various EV and plug-in hybrid deals.

E.ON Next Drive is a fixed EV tariff for home charging, which has the longest overnight off-peak period in the market; starting at 12am and finishing at 7am. During this period, E.ON Next offers users charging prices of 6.7p per-kilowatt hour.

“We’re working with Select Car Leasing to offer our customers another way to save money on their energy bills,” said Julian Lennertz, E.ON Next chief commercial officer. “We want to make new energy work for everyone living in the UK as part of our transition to clean power, and to be a playmaker in this space. By making electric driving more affordable we’re giving customers another great reason to make the switch from petrol or diesel.”

Mark Tongue, the CEO and co-founder of Select Car Leasing added: “EVs come with enormous benefits, helping motorists to radically reduce their fuel bills while also making a positive impact on the environment in comparison to petrol or diesel. Yet we know that convincing drivers to make the switch to EVs poses certain challenges, particularly when it comes to things like home charging and choosing the best energy supplier. Our fantastic new partnership with E.ON Next cuts through those complications and allows consumers to choose an EV with confidence while also taking advantage of generous cost savings.”

The £134 credit deal is not the first to be offered by E.ON in 2025 as it urges UK motorists to make the transition from ICE to EV. Earlier in the year, the energy provider was giving £50 off of its Wallbox Pulsar Max smart charger to existing customers. In February 2025, one in four of all new cars registered were EVs, with sales growing by almost 42% year-on-year thanks to a variety of generous discounts offered by the likes of Volkswagen, Renault, and Abarth.

Despite the upward sales trend during the opening months of this year, just one in 10 cars purchased by private buyers in 2024 were EVs.
