You can now order an Alpine A290 from £33,500
Orders for the new Alpine A290 hot hatch have opened in the UK, with prices starting from £33,500.
The sporty sibling to the Renault 5 was recently named joint winner of the European Car of the Year and customers who order their car before February 4 are being offered free servicing and a VIP experience as part of the package.
From launch, the Alpine A290 is available in five trim levels – GT, GT Premium, GT Performance, GTS, and Launch Edition – and with a choice of two motors – 178bhp or 217bhp. The more powerful model gets from 0-62mph in 6.4 seconds – a second faster than the smaller motor – and offers up to 226 miles of range from its 52kWh battery. The less powerful model uses the same battery for a driving range of 236 miles.
All versions of the A290 feature a sports-tuned chassis with multilink rear suspension, Brembo brakes and a choice of performance-oriented Michelin tyres, as well as a motorsport-inspired interior with ‘overtake’ button.
Entry grade GT trim features the smaller motor and starts at £33,500. It features 19-inch alloys, a two-tone roof, heated seats and steering wheel, full LED lights and adaptive cruise control.
GT Premium adds two-tone Nappa leather, a bi-tone roof and Alpine blue brake calipers along with a better sound system and costs from £36,000.
Above that, the more powerful motor comes as standard along with more performance-focused tyres, black wheels and on-board telematics, and a range of cosmetic upgrades depending on the trim. The top-spec Launch Edition also adds the optional Safety Pack and Driving Pack as standard for its £38,500 list price.
Retail customers who order a car before February 4 will receive three years’ free servicing and a choice of VIP opportunities ranging from A110 track experiences to hospitality at a selection of major UK events where Alpine will have a presence.
First deliveries are expected in April.
The A290 is the first in Alpine’s three-car ‘dream garage’ line-up, which will also include the A390 crossover and an all-electric version of its famous A110 sports car.
