Amazon adds 140 Mercedes eActros 600 EVs to UK fleet
Amazon has boosted its zero-emissions fleet in the UK with an order of 140 all-electric Mercedes eActros 600 eHGVs.
The UK-bound trucks, which are set join the delivery giant’s UK fleet over the next 18 months, are expected to deliver over 300 million packages across the country each year.
The eActros 600 has a 600kWh battery capable of returning up to 310 miles on a single charge. In line with its pledge to be carbon neutral by 2040, Amazon will install 360kW charging points at key UK depots. The ultra-rapid devices are capable of charging the eActros 600 from 20 percent to 80 percent in around an hour.
In 2025, the eActros 600 was named the International Truck of the Year by a panel of European commercial vehicle trade journalists from 24 countries.
James Venables, head of future sustainability at Mercedes Trucks parent company, Daimler Truck, said: Winning the prestigious award of International Truck of the Year for 2025 was an incredible accolade for the eActros 600 and this order from Amazon really validates the truck as the technology leader in its class.
“It is also further acknowledgement of the value the eActros 600 has to a pioneering company with their sights firmly set on a net-zero future. Our dealer network is primed and ready to support Amazon as we look forward to welcoming these electric trucks on the road in the UK later this year.”
Andreas Marschner, vice president of worldwide operations sustainability at Amazon, added: “The order of more than 200 eActros 600 underlines our commitment to being a leader in electrifying our transportation network in Europe.
“It is the biggest electric heavy truck order by Amazon to date anywhere in the world and is an important step as we work to achieve our Climate Pledge commitment to reach net zero carbon emissions across our operations by 2040.”
Daimler began supplying Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) to Amazon UK in 2021, when it introduced the 7.5-tonne Fuso eCanter.
The Uk order is part of a deal for Mercedes to supply 200 eHGVs to Amazon. The remaining 60 eActros 600s will be operated on ‘middle-mile’ routes by Amazon Germany. The order for the vehicles is the biggest in the history of all-electric Mercedes trucks.
