Xpeng has confirmed that UK deliveries for its all-electric X9 MPV will begin in Q3 this year, marking it the second model in the Chinese AI-focused EV manufacturer’s line-up to hit British shores.
While an exact arrival date is to be announced, the Xpeng X9 will be priced from £74,990 for the entry-level, rear-wheel-drive (RWD) Standard Range Model, capable of 332 miles on a single charge. The 382-mile Long Range car starts at £79,990, while the all-wheel-drive (AWD) model manages up to 360 miles.
All versions of the seven-seat MPV ride on Xpeng’s tried-and-tested 800-volt architecture, which returns a 10-80% top-up charge time of just 12 minutes. Earlier this year, the Xpeng G6 fitted with the same electrical system claimed the world EV record for 1,000 kilometres in under 10 hours.
Created with a “first-class passenger” experience in mind, the Xpeng X9 will incorporate “ultra-intelligent technology in its electric drivetrain” and adopt a “highly futuristic, starship-inspired design”.
Based on the images sent out, the X9’s aesthetics blend Xpeng’s own forward-thinking design language with sharp, angular elements on the doors, not dissimilar to those found on the award-winning Hyundai Ioniq 5.
Overall, the X9 is less visually blocky than other electrified luxury MPV rivals, including the Maybach VLS, the Lexus LM, the China-exclusive LEVC L380, and the Volvo EM90.
Xpeng will offer the X9 in Arctic White as standard, with Silver Frost, Midnight Black, and Graphite Grey as optional colours. The leather-trimmed cabin is finished in Meteorite Black, with Moon Shadow Coffee available as an add-on.
Ahead of its UK arrival, Xpeng’s UK sales director, Jonny Miller, said he hopes the X9 “defines a UK standard for style and technology in all-electric MPVs”.
“The Xpeng X9 delivers a first-class passenger experience for every occupant, in both professional and family environments, and continues to build on Xpeng’s philosophy of AI-defined mobility,” he added.
Following the X9’s UK debut, Xpeng will introduce its L03 crossover as its third model. While no information about the L03’s pricing is public yet, it will be announced on July 16.
