Skoda Elroq exterior revealed in new sketches

Skoda has given the clearest hints yet about the styling of its new Elroq family SUV with two new design sketches.

To mark World EV Day, the Czech brand shared the first exterior sketches of its next all-electric model, which is the first to adopt its new ‘modern solid’ design language.

The Elroq is due to be fully unveiled later this year ahead of going on sale in 2025 as Skoda’s smallest EV to date, sitting beneath the Enyaq as an electric alternative to the Karoq. Later in 2025, the Epiq compact SUV will join the range.

The sketches inevitably make the car look wider and lower than the production model but give hints to the overall look, with a huge “Tech-Deck Face” in place of a traditional grille. Behind this lurk the myriad sensors that power the advanced driver assistance systems.

The Elroq features a split headlight design for the Matrix LED headlights, which are integrated into the sharply sculpted bumper as well as forming a slimline leading edge to the bonnet. In a departure from current Skoda design, the brand’s named is spelled out in full between them in the centre of the bonnet.

At the rear, the sketches suggest the Elroq will feature a prominent roof spoiler and slim LED taillights along with a sculpted rear bumper that mirrors the design of the front. Skoda also says that the Elroq will feature dark chrome accents around the body in place of traditional chrome or gloss black finishes. . Additional visual highlights include Unique Dark Chrome accents, such as the centrally positioned lettering on the tailgate and the 2D Škoda logo adorning the centre caps of the alloy wheels.

Karl Neuhold, head of exterior design at Skoda, said: “The all-new Skoda Elroq embodies our new modern solid design language and takes the exterior design even further with its eye-catching Tech-Deck Face and distinctive front bumper.

“The Skoda lettering on the bonnet stands out as another characteristic feature of our all-new fully electric car, with accents in unique dark chrome rounding off the look. Thanks to its long range and rugged body style, the Elroq will be the perfect companion for everyday explorers on outdoor adventures, while its compact size also makes it ideal for urban driving.”

The new exterior sketches follow similar recent reveals of the Elroq’s interior, which also detailed the extensive used of sustainable materials in the car.

Each interior ‘design selection’ uses a different mix of recycled and sustainable materials. These include fabrics woven from Econyl yarns created from nylon from reclaimed fishing nets, and Recytitan, which uses a mixture of recycled PET plastics and recycled clothing.

The new materials will be used on everything from seats and floor mats to door cards and dashboard surfaces.
