Polestar expands Plug & Charge network and adds Tesla Supercharger integration to app
Polestar has expanded its Plug & Charge network to more than 28,000 charging stations in Europe, and has integrated Tesla Supercharger compatibility into its Polestar Charge app.
Like the Tesla Supercharger, Plug & Charge tech allows any 2026 model-year Polestar 2 and Polestar 3 cars to communicate directly with the charger and process payment immediately.
Using the centralised Polestar Charge app, this all-in-one process eliminates several steps from public EV charging by removing the need for multiple payment methods and various apps. Plug & Charge will be rolled out to Polestar 4 customers via an upcoming Over-the-Air (OTA) update.
Polestar is one of the first carmakers to fully integrate Tesla Superchargers into its own app, giving Polestar owners access to over 20,000 Tesla sites in more than 1,500 European locations.
Supercharger real-time availability is now visible in Polestar’s integrated Google Maps system, allowing drivers to plan their route in real-time and check whether charging bays are vacant.
On the back of its Plug & Charge expansion and adding the Tesla Supercharger network to its Polestar Charge app, the Swedish brand’s head of product software management Olivier Loedel commented: “With Polestar Charge, we give our customers access to one of the biggest charging networks in Europe.
“By expanding Plug & Charge and fully integrating Tesla Superchargers, we’re improving our premium seamless charging experience even further. Our strong charging offer, integrated with the in-car navigation in Google Maps, sets us apart from many competitors.”
Polestar Charge provides access to over a million charging points in Polestar’s European markets. It allows Polestar owners to benefit from 30% cheaper fast charging at more than 80,000 charging points run by 42 charge operators.
As well as Tesla Superchargers, other regional charge point operators included in the Polestar Charge app include Ionity, Recharge, Total, Fastned, and Allego.
Polestar Charge is available to download via the Apple App Store and Google Play and is priced from £11.99 per month for discounted charging.
