Polestar UK’s fastest-growing premium EV brand after record-breaking September
Polestar UK sold a total of 2,758 cars in September 2025, making it the country’s fastest-growing premium manufacturer.
The Swedish performance EV maker’s positive sales figures were not just restricted to the UK. During the first nine months of 2025, Polestar’s global retail sales amounted to 44,482 cars – a year-on-year increase of 36%.
Throughout the third quarter (Q3) of 2025, Polestar also sold 14,192 cars – 13% more than the 12,548 shifted in the same period as last year.
Polestar UK managing director, Matt Galvin, pointed to the newly-introduced Polestar 3 with its 800 volt electrical architecture, and the Polestar 4 as two of the reasons behind the positive numbers.
“We continue to nurture our growth in the UK market through expansion of our retailer network where we now have 14 Spaces across the country.” he said. “The introduction of [the] Polestar 3 and 4 has really captured the interests of our customers – those searching for something with striking design and innovative technology.”

Brand CEO, Michael Lohscheller added: “The third quarter saw continued growth, and we have now sold as many cars as in the whole of 2024. Despite continued external headwinds and challenging market conditions, our line-up and strong order intake provide a solid basis for growth in the fourth quarter.”
Despite the introduction of the Polestar 3, Polestar 4, and Polestar 5, its best seller remains its first car, the Polestar 2. Since its 2020 debut, the Gothenburg-based carmaker has sold over 180,000 of its Chinese-built ‘P2’, which curried favour in both Europe and the United States.
Lohscheller confirmed that despite being the oldest model in the Polestar line-up, the Polestar 2 won’t be replaced for at least another couple of years. When it is, it will remain a fastback-style saloon.
Beyond the Polestar 5, the Gothenburg-based firm’s next car will be the Polestar 7 SUV. Set to launch in 2028, the Polestar 7 will share its electrical architecture as its sister car, the upcoming Volvo EX60. Both will be built at the Volvo plant in Kosice, Slovakia.
Polestar isn’t the only EV brand to pivot their attention towards Central Eastern Europe. Toyota, Ford, Mercedes, and Stellantis have all moved EV manufacturing to the region.
