Vehicle remarketing specialist BCA has opened a new battery repair facility for used EVs.
The centre in Doncaster is the first of its kind and aims to give used retailers a cheaper alternative to replacing batteries in secondhand electric vehicles where the warranty has expired or been invalidated.
The location is managed by BCA Fleet Solutions and is able to work on components from any manufacturer, offering a range of services covering most of the key elements of electric and hybrid powertrains. These include module repair and replacement, casing repairs, cellular balancing, motor replacement and DC charger and inverter repairs.
All work is carried out to OEM standards and, where possible, uses “green” part supply.
BCA says the new service will help improve confidence in the used car market as well as giving dealers a quicker and cheaper way to assess and repair de-fleeted vehicles before they are put up for sale.
The UK’s used EV sector is growing rapidly and confidence in the condition and longevity of batteries is seen as key to sustaining this growth.
In 2024 BCA began offering a battery health report with all vehicles passing through its marketplace. Delivered in partnership with Aviloo, the reports grade batteries from A to E for usable state of charge and cell health, and help give a clear picture of a battery’s condition, which retailers can pass on to customers.
In 2025, BCA reported that since the health checks’ introduction, it had seen a 1.4% improvement over the guide price and a 2.7-day reduction in time-to-sale for EVs.
