New entry-level Audi A6 e-tron brings £62,500 starting price

Audi has launched a new entry-level version of its A6 e-tron alongside a lower-priced all-wheel-drive variant.

The single-motor A6 e-tron comes with a smaller battery and brings the starting price of Audi’s electric fastback down to £62,500. It is also available in the Avant estate body.

At the same time, Audi has added a new twin-motor A6 e-tron that adds a more affordable all-wheel-drive option alongside the performance focused S6 e-tron.

The entry-level car – badged simply A6 e-tron – uses a rear-mounted 322bhp motor and a 75.8kWh (usable) battery in place of more expensive models’ 375bhp/94.9kWh combination.

With launch control activated, both the Sportback and Avant variants can still hit 62mph in six seconds and reach a top speed of 130mph. Driven sensibly, Audi says the Sportback will return up to 382 miles on a single charge while the Avant will manage 361 miles.

Maximum charging of 225kW can add up to 192 miles’ worth of energy in just 10 minutes, and can charge the car from 10-80% in 21 minutes.

Sitting just below the full-fat S6 e-tron, the new A6 e-tron quattro is also available in Sportback and Avant variants. Prices start at £75,000 for the Sportback in Sport specification, rising to £85,300 for the Avant in Edition 1 trim.

The quattro adds a motor to the front axle for all-wheel drive and a total of 456bhp – 86bhp less than the S6 e-tron. That allows the Sportback and Avant to sprint to 62mph in 4.7 seconds in normal use or 4.5 seconds with launch control activated. Top speed is limited to 130mph.

Like the S6 e-tron, the quattro gets a 94.9kWh battery that offers a range of 438 miles for the Sportback and 415 miles for the Avant. Despite having a larger battery than the base-spec cars, the quattro has the same charging times thanks to a higher 270kW charging capacity.

Audi UK director, José Miguel Aparicio, commented: “The A6 e-tron perfectly embodies the very significant progress Audi has already made in electrification. Our new variants offer all these strengths in packages that will hold even greater appeal for customers who are perhaps making their first foray into the upper midsize class. For drivers looking to travel as cleanly, efficiently and comfortably as possible, the A6 e-tron family will set new benchmarks in its segment.”

All variants of the A6 e-tron are available to order now, with first customer deliveries expected in the first quarter of 2025.
