Mazda 6e UK prices to start at £38,995

Mazda’s Tesla Model 3 rival the 6e will go on sale in the UK this summer with every model priced at under £40,000.

The sleek fastback has been on sale in Europe since 2025 but UK buyers have had to wait for right-hand-drive production to start.

Now it is available to order in the UK, with prices starting at £38,995. The Mazda 6e will be offered in two trim levels – Takumi and Takumi Plus and with just one powertrain option.

Unlike Europe, where the Mazda 6e is offered with a choice of 68.8kWh LFP or 80kWh NCM battery, the UK model comes with an updated 78kWh LFP battery which offers improved range and charging times over either of the European options.

Range is up to 348 miles and DC charging is upgraded to 195kW, allowing a 10-80% charge in 24 minutes.

The rear-mounted motor is the same unit in the more powerful European spec, offering 254bhp and 214lb ft. Mazda says that will get the 6e from standstill to 62mph in 7.9 seconds.

We’ve already driven the European-spec car here, but we’ll have to wait until later this year to see if the updates have improved the 6e’s performance.

The Mazda 6e Takumi starts at £38,995 and comes with 19-inch alloy wheels, adaptive LED headlights, a panoramic sunroof and multi-zone climate control. Takumi models will feature black or stone-coloured artificial leather, while Takumi Plus – which costs from £39,995 – offers tan Nappa leather with artificial suede trim.

The interior is a very un-Mazda-like affair, with a focus on large touchscreens rather than physical controls – a clue to the car’s Chinese origins with Mazda’s EV partner Changan. All versions get a 14.6-inch touchscreen and a 10.2-inch digital instrument display, complemented by an augmented reality head-up display.

Later this year the 6e will be joined by the Mazda CX-6e, doubling Mazda’s EV offering. The CX-6e is the SUV sister car to the 6e and uses the same Changan-sourced platform as Mazda looks to take on the Tesla Model Y, VW ID.4 and . It will use the same 78kWh battery and 254bhp motor as the fastback and is expected to offer just over 300 miles of range.

Commenting on the Mazda6e, Jeremy Thomson, Mazda UK’s managing director, said: “With a nod to the popularity of the Mazda6, the Mazda 6e is a real statement of intent for the future and illustrates how Mazda can bring great design, technology and style to battery electric vehicles.

“With a UK price that sees both models under £40,000, this value proposition is even more tempting when you see the huge tally of equipment and technology fitted as standard across both the Takumi and Takumi Plus.”
