Fiat announces price cuts for 600e and Abarth 500e
Fiat and its performance arm Abarth have confirmed price cuts of more than £4,000 on two models as they look to boost sales.
The Italian pair have reduced the price of the Fiat 600e SUV and the Abarth 500e hot hatch as they try to attract more private and fleet customers.
Both models now start at £29,975 on-the-road, representing a £4,020 reduction on the family-focused Fiat 600e and a drop of £4,220 on the starting price of the sporty Abarth 500e.
The brands say the move is an evolution and expansion of the existing Fiat ‘E-Grant’, which for the last 18 months has delivered discounts of £3,000 on Fiat’s all-electric models.
The previous reduction was applied by dealers to the standard list price, which excluded fleet buyers from the deal. However, the new arrangement reduces the official list price. This means that fleet buyers who are tied to the on-the-road value can now enjoy the benefit of the grant.
Fiat previously made the same changes to its 500e city car, which has struggled to sell in the last 12 months.
Boosting fleet sales is seen as vital to helping meet this year’s ZEV mandate targets due to the subdued nature of the private retail market. Fleet and business sales accounted for 62% of new car registrations in 2024 and EVs represented a quarter of those. While fleet sales helped drive a small growth in the overall new car market, private sales fell nearly 9% and EVs represented just one in 10 privately registered new cars last year.
While intended to offer incentives to buyers, the move also helps create a gap between the Abarth 500e and Abarth’s performance-focused version of the 600e. When the 600e launched in late 2024 it started at the same price as the Abarth 500e but offered far more power, performance and range, creating a marketing headache for the brand.
