Can-Am bolsters EV line-up with Outlander Electric quad bike

Can-Am has unveiled its Can-Am Outlander Electric ATV for the 2026 model year, making it the first all-electric quad bike to be manufactured by the BRP-owned brand.

The Can-Am Outlander Electric all-terrain vehicle (ATV) is aimed primarily at outdoor workers and outdoor enthusiasts. It’s powered by BRP’s in-house developed Rotax E-Power electric motor used in Can-Am’s range of fully-electric motorcycles.

Capable of up to 50 miles on a single charge, the Outlander Electric’s e-motor packs 47 bhp and 53lb ft of torque. Its 8.9kWh battery can be charged from 20-80% in 50 minutes using a 22kW Level 2 charger.

Can-Am says that the Outlander Electric’s “whisper-quiet” operation sets it apart from other quad bike rivals, and allows riders to explore the outdoors “without disturbing” nature and the land. Sound-deadening features include dedicated XPS Recon Force Tyres, a low-noise cooling system, and an specially-optimised, smooth-riding suspension.

The Outlander Electric has lost none of Can-Am’s legendary ruggedness, and has an industry-leading 830kg towing capacing. Over 120 accessories are available depending on what the vehicle is used for, and riders can switch between three drive modes – Normal, Sport, and Work – based on their surroundings.

“With the Outlander Electric, we’re not just launching a new ATV, we’re introducing a new way to experience the outdoors and get the job done,” explained Can-Am’s global marketing director, Julie Tourville. “This vehicle is built to let riders and workers feel more connected to their surroundings – it’s powerful, quiet, and true to what we do at BRP.”

The Can-Am Outlander Electric is available in two trim levels – the ‘T’ and the ‘Max’, the latter of which benefits from a removable passenger seat. The Can-Am Outlander Electric T is priced from £15,995, and the Max from £16,899.

The Outlander Electric’s arrival comes a full year after Can-Am returned to the global motorcycle market with its all-electric Pulse and Origin models. The Pulse is a town bike geared towards urban riders, while the dual-purpose Origin is designed for use in non-rural and rural environments.
