Bonnet plants ‘new forest’ to turn Black Friday green

Electric vehicle charging app Bonnet turned Black Friday weekend green by planting 500 trees to absorb CO2 emissions.

The ‘Bonnet Forest’ will consist of 500 trees that will absorb the equivalent of all the emissions 30,000 petrol cars will produce if they head to the shops this Black Friday weekend.

The first 500 drivers to charge up using Bonnet’s app over the course of this weekend (Black Friday to Cyber Monday, 25-28th November) will automatically sponsor planting a tree. With each charging session, Bonnet will work with the organisation more trees to plant mangroves in Madagascar. There will be no added cost for drivers taking part in this.

It’s estimated the Bonnet Forest will absorb 150 tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere over the course of its lifetime.

Patrick Reich, CEO and cofounder of Bonnet, said: “Every Black Friday weekend millions of people head to the shops in their cars. This can cause congestion and pollute the clean air in our streets.

“Through the power of electrified drivers using Bonnet’s app, we want to turn this Black Friday Green by planting a new forest in their name. These trees will help soak up the carbon emissions produced by tens of thousands of drivers who head to the shops this weekend.”
