AUDI E7X at large with ‘monolithic’ design and nearly 500 miles of range

The AUDI E7X has made its official debut in China with a 109kWh battery capable of 466 miles on a single charge.

AUDI is Audi’s Chinese-market joint-venture sister brand with the country’s largest state-owned carmaker, SAIC, which owns MG. To prevent things from getting confusing, AUDI is capitalised, and doesn’t wear Ingolstadt’s famous four-rings logo. What’s more, AUDI models are China-only.

Measuring up at just over five metres long, two metres wide, and 1,8 metres high, the AUDI E7X is even larger than its European relative, the Audi Q7. Like AUDI’s first car, the E5 Sportback, the E7X adopts a ‘monolithic’ profile with a smooth, squared-off nose, unfussy lights, and wrap-around lightbars front and rear.

AUDI hasn’t yet revealed the E7X’s cabin. However, it is expected to go all-in with dashboard-wide screens to cater to what it describes as “particularly tech-savvy Chinese customers“,  along with layered bamboo-effect wood panels on the doors and centre console.

Hidden air vents and opinion-dividing digital displays for the wing mirrors are also expected to feature, along with AUDI’s 360 Driving Assist System, which has been developed exclusively for”Chinese traffic conditions and driving scenarios”.

The 466-mile range is based on China’s CLTC cycle, which tends to quote between 15% to 20% more miles than its European WLTP equivalent. Underneath, the AUDI E7X rides on a dual-motor setup returning from 400 to 670bhp.

Unlike the Euro-spec Audi Q6 e-tron‘s 800V PPE or ‘Premium Platform Electric’ underpinnings, the E7X rides on the 900V AUDI/SAIC-developed Advanced Digitalised Platform. This China-only running gear has a maximum fast-charging speed of 400kW, translating into around 200 miles of range in 10 minutes.

AUDI first hinted at the E7X at Auto Guangzhou last year. Since then, the Sino-German brand has confirmed that the car will debut at the Shanghai motor show, which runs from April 24 to May 2026. AUDI confirmed via its media site that the E7X will go on sale during the first half of this year.
