Alpine A390 concept teased ahead of Paris debut
Alpine will launch its second all-electric model – the A390 – in 2025, adding a sports crossover to the A290 hot hatch.
The French car maker has shared the first teaser image of what it calls the forerunner to its future ‘sports fastback’ ahead of a full reveal on its website on 11 October. The car will then appear in the metal at the Paris Motor Show from 14 October.
While the car being revealed next month is being touted as a concept, Alpine says the road-going A390 will enter production at its Dieppe factory next year, suggesting that that show car will be a close representation of the final vehicle.
The silhouette image suggests a long, sweeping body but it is believed the A390 will be positioned against the Porsche Macan in the sports SUV segment. The shape also suggests cars like the Polestar 4 and Cupra Tavascan could be likely rivals.
Alpine says the A390 name tallies with its planned naming convention for all future models. The 3 represents its size (so bigger than the A110 and A290) and the 90 refers to the brand’s ‘versatile and everyday use vehicles’, rather than its purely performance-focused cars.
The A390 will eventually form part of a seven-car electric ‘dream garage’ from the brand, with an EV replacement for the A110 and a four-seat coupe among rumoured models.
