Zaptec named exclusive EV charge point supplier for Cala Group

Zaptec UK has been named the exclusive supplier of EV charging infrastructure for major homebuilder Cala Group.

The partnership will ensure that all Cala Homes and Legal & General Homes customers will have access to EV chargers. This deal marks another milestone in Cala’s sustainability journey, as it aims to achieve net-zero operational greenhouse gas emissions across the business by 2030. Cala is striving to not only build homes that are more sustainable, but to give its customers the tools and technology they need to live as sustainably as possible.

Stephen Kelso, Product Design Manager at Cala, said: “Our aim is that from June 2023, where infrastructure allows, Cala will handover new homes to customers with active EV charging stations installed – a huge step forward in helping our customers reduce their carbon footprint and live more sustainably, while also supporting the expected demand for electric vehicles across the UK in the coming years.

“We have already made significant headway in providing EV charging for our customers, with multiple sites now fully equipped or enabled to allow charging an electric vehicle at home. This partnership with Zaptec UK will bring with it great new benefits to our customers and the communities in which we build, not only allowing them to utilise an excellent product that they would expect with a Cala home, but also ensuring that we are doing the right thing by helping to decarbonise our homes and protecting our planet.”

Guy Haydon, Managing Director at Zaptec UK, commented: “Following a competitive procurement process, we are delighted to be working with Cala Group as their sole supplier of EV charging infrastructure. The UK Government’s introduction of mandatory charge points for new builds has been a positive and forward-thinking approach to addressing the UK’s transport emissions and air quality, while preparing homeowners for the 2030 ban on petrol- and diesel-powered vehicles.

“It is fantastic to be working with one of the UK’s leading housing developers, particularly one that matches our dedication to product design and ‘getting it right’ for customers. We look forward to supplying Cala across its developments beginning with immediate effect, working with their teams to increase accessibility to EVs and the adoption of more sustainable mobility.”
