Zeekr X beats Porsche Macan to Euro NCAP Best in Class award
The Zeekr X has won the 2024 Euro NCAP Best in Class award for small SUVs and pure electric vehicles.
In doing so, the Chinese manufacturer beat 19 rivalling compact SUVs from legacy brands including the Porsche Macan, Cupra Tavascan, and the Volvo EX30.
Euro NCAP’s Best in Class award is determined by four safety evaluations, adult occupant, child occupant, pedestrian, and safety assist.
In the adult occupant category, the Zeekr X scored 91%, and in child occupant it scored 90%. In pedestrian and safety assist, it scored 84% and 83% respectively.
The Zeekr X is built on the EV-only Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) platform developed by parent company Geely. It also underpins the all-electric Smart #1, Smart #3, and the Volvo EX30.
The Zeekr X wasn’t the only Chinese car to perform well in the 2024 Euro NCAP safety ratings, with the Xpeng G6 and Deepsal S07 – the latter of which is not available in the United Kingdom – also performing well.
Designed in Stockholm, the Zeekr X is available in Sweden, Norway, and the Netherlands. In Long Range rear-wheel drive configuration, it returns a range of 277 miles from its 69kWh battery and begins at €42,490 (£35,896). The all-wheel drive Privilege trim is priced from €47,490 (£40,120) and has the same 69kWh battery as the entry-level car. Its range is 264 miles.
Zeekr is currently deciding whether to enter the UK EV market.
