World EV Day set to go on tour
World EV Day is set to go on a worldwide tour next year after five years of raising awareness of green transport.
As the event celebrates its fifth anniversary today (9 September), the team behind it has revealed plans to take its message on the road next year with World EV Day on Tour.
The tour will see a rolling EV rally across multiple territories, looking to engage with a mainstream audience and promote the benefits of electric vehicles.
Initially conceived as a digital marketing initiative to broaden discussion around sustainable transport, World EV Day was launched during the Covid pandemic and has evolved into an international movement, backed by major businesses across the globe.
World EV Day founder, Ade Thomas, commented: “Launching World EV Day was an ambitious task. Turning a simple idea into a global movement required a huge effort, but the response was overwhelming.
“Early support from major international partners like ABB played a crucial role in gaining momentum, and now with the support of our headline partner, Auto Trader, amongst others, we’ve been able to reach a massive audience over the past few years.”
WIth this year’s theme being ‘Let’s drive change, together’, the team behind it says the focus is on emphasising the collective effort needed to advance emobility and improve education in the face of uncertainty and wavering global policies.
Thomas added: “The energy on the day itself each year is palpable. Witnessing such widespread engagement across the globe is a clear indication that we have made a real impact. We have successfully moved the needle on public engagement around sustainable mobility.”
Along with plans to take the event on tour, the team behind the day is also set to launch a community-generated EV meet-ups map, in partnership with a major global tech platform. This tool will enable EV drivers to connect with each other at various locations, including charging hubs, dealerships, retailers, and even across neighbourhoods for those with domestic chargers.
