Vauxhall adds sub-£35k Griffin trim to Grandland Electric line-up

Vauxhall has added its value-focused Griffin trim level to its Grandland Electric range, with a starting price of £34,495.

The Vauxhall Grandland Griffin Electric gets 20-inch wheels, a black roof, tinted rear windows, a heated steering wheel, and heated front seats.

The 10-way adjustable driver’s seat is also certified by the AGR – the Campaign for Healthier Backs in Germany, where the Grandland is built at parent company Stellantis’ Eisenach factory.

All of the above builds on the Grandland’s already generous standard kit list. This means you get a 10-inch driver display and a matching 10-inch infotainment screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, Vauxhall’s ‘Intelli-LED’ headlights, front and rear parking sensors, a reversing camera, and several driver-assist features including adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist.

The Vauxhall Grandland Griffin rides on Stellantis’ STLA Medium platform, which is shared with the flashy Peugeot E-3008 and the ultra-comfortable Citroen e-C5 Aircross. The Vauxhall uses a front-mounted, 210bhp electric motor to return up to 322 miles of range.

When it comes to performance and charging, the Grandland Griffin manages 0-62mph in nine seconds. Its 73kWh battery has a maximum charging speed of 160kW, and can be topped up from 10% to 80% in around 26 minutes.

As with other models in the Vauxhall range, the Griffin is the cheapest variant in the Grandland Electric line-up. It undercuts the mid-level £38,565 GS car by £4,070 and includes Vauxhall’s ‘Electric All In’ package.

This includes £500 of credit towards an Ohme Pro home wallbox charger, or a cross-pavement cable installation by Kerbo Charge, which allows owners reliant on on-street parking to get a charging cable to their car more safely than just laying it across the pavement.

The £500 credit can also be used on Octopus Electroverse or Connected Kerb public chargers, as well as those found in Tesco supermarket car parks.

If that wasn’t enough, Vauxhall’s ‘Electric All In’ bundle adds eight years of comprehensive roadside assistance, including emergency charging, and 10,000 miles worth of free home charging if owners switch to the Octopus Go intelligent home charging tariff.
