UK dynamic debut of Alpine A290 electric ‘hot hatch’ at Goodwood Festival of Speed 2024

Alpine has returned to the Goodwood Festival of Speed with a thrilling line-up that showcases its rich motorsport heritage and future innovations, highlighted by the UK dynamic debut of the Alpine A290, the brand’s first fully electric sports car.

Fresh from its world premiere at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the 220 bhp Alpine A290 will demonstrate its sporting prowess on Goodwood’s iconic 1.16-mile hill as part of the ‘First Glance’ display. This debut offers visitors an exciting glimpse into Alpine’s electrified future for its road models.

In addition to the A290, Alpine’s presence on the ‘Manufacturer Grid’ features an impressive array of its past, present, and future competition vehicles. Notable displays include the 493 bhp A110 Pikes Peak car, designed for optimal aerodynamics, and the innovative Alpenglow concept, which combines a lightweight carbon body with a 340 bhp hydrogen-powered engine. The 1975 A110 Group 4 Tour de Corse rally car will also join the A290 in the ‘First Glance’ feature.

The motorsport theme continues with the BWT Alpine F1 Team showcar, the 1970s twin-turbocharged V6 RS10 F1 car, and the V6-powered A442B endurance racer. Visitors can test their driving skills on the Alpine simulator, with the fastest participant winning an Alpine experience at Thruxton. Alpine merchandise will also be available for purchase.

Another highlight in the ‘First Glance’ feature is the limited-edition A110 R Le Mans, of which only 100 units will be produced. The rest of the A110 range, including the A110 S, A110 GT, A110 R, and A110 Enstone, will participate in the manufacturer parade.

Alpine will also unveil its Atelier Alpine programme at Goodwood, which aims to make the A110 even more exclusive. This programme allows customers to customise their A110 with a choice of 22 new body colours inspired by Alpine’s history, paired with bespoke alloy wheels and brake callipers.

Nic Burnside, Managing Director of Alpine Cars UK, remarked, “Alpine always brings excitement to Goodwood, but this year will be particularly memorable. Together with truly astounding competition cars, Alpine will dynamically showcase how the brand is set to be more accessible and versatile than ever, the pure electric Alpine A290 appealing to a much enlarged audience and demonstrating an exhilarating new direction for Alpine production models.”
