New single-motor Skoda Enyaq SportLine 85 gets 356-mile range and lower starting price

Skoda has launched a cheaper single-motor variant of its mid-range Enyaq Sportline, promising an improved range of up to 356 miles.

When the updated Skoda Enyaq launched in January this year, the mid-level SportLine cars were solely available in dual-motor, four wheel-drive SportLine 85x guise. Pricing started at £48,760 for the SUV and £50,660 for the Coupé. However, the newly-introduced, rear wheel-drive, single motor SportLine 85 is priced from £49,160 for the Coupé, and £47,260 for the SUV.

The absence of the 4WD system and second motor sees the Skoda Enyaq SportLine 85 Coupé return 356 miles from a single charge, while the blockier SUV manages a 354 mile range.

Despite having a bigger range than the 4×4 SportLine 85x cars, the single motor Skoda Enyaq SportLine 85 still can’t match the entry level Enyaq Edition trim, which returns a range of 365 miles as a Coupé and 359 miles as an SUV.

The rear-mounted electric motor on the Skoda Enyaq Sportline 85 packs 282bhp and 402lb ft of torque. These figures rival the twin-motor SportLine 85X cars. Both drivetrains share a 0-60mph time of 6.5 seconds and a 111mph top speed.

Irrespective of trim level, the Skoda Enyaq gets a 77kWh battery with a maximum rapid DC charging rate of up to 135kW, meaning the Skoda Enyaq SportLine 85 can be charged from 10% to 80% in approximately 28 minutes.

Despite having a lower starting price than the 85x, the Skoda Enyaq SportLine 85 enjoys the same equipment levels of equipment. Both Coupé and SUV bodystyles benefit from 20-inch blacked out ‘Vega’ alloy wheels, sports bumpers, and gloss black detailing.

Inside, bucket-style sports seats up front, a head-up display, sports steering wheel, and an upgraded Canton sound system are standard. Under the skin, all Skoda Enyaq SportLine models benefit from sports suspension lowered by 15mm at the front and 10mm at the rear compared with standard models, and Skoda’s progressive dynamic steering system from the flagship, performance-focused Enyaq vRS.
