Hyundai Ioniq 5 updated with new spec and longer range
Hyundai has revealed pricing for its updated Ioniq 5, along with three new trim levels.
The family crossover now starts at £39,900 and comes with a choice of two batteries, including a new 84kWh pack that offers an improved range of up to 354 miles.
In the spirit of mid-life refreshes everywhere, the updated Ioniq 5 gets new-look front and rear bumpers, new 19- and 20-inch alloy wheel designs, an extended rear spoiler and redesigned front LED look. Hyundai has also added two new paint options – the free Ultimate Red and paid-for Meta Blue.
Inside, Hyundai has added a raised and sliding centre console in place of the huge open storage space of the original car, and – praise be – this now features physical climate and heated seat controls. The light grey plastic surround of the dual displays has also been replaced with a darker design and the door card, seat and upholstery have been updated.
The motor setup remains unchanged but the 77kWh battery in long-range models has been upgraded to 84kWh, offering a 40-mile boost to its range. Standard-range cars retain the 63kWh battery with a 273-mile range.
Three new trim levels join the existing Premium and Ultimate options, with an entry level Advance model as well as two sportier N Line and N Line S specs with bespoke styling inspired by the wild Ioniq 5 N.
Advance and Premium models are available with in 168bhp or 225bhp rear-wheel-drive configuration with standard or long-range batteries offering a range of up to 273 miles and 354 miles respectively. The N Line, Ultimate and N Line S variants offer the long-range battery with rear-wheel-drive powertrain, as well as an 321bhp all-wheel-drive option. For N Line and N Line S models, the rear-wheel-drive powertrain has a range of up to 320 miles, and the all-wheel-drive option offers up to 307 miles. The Ultimate specification returns 329 miles in RWD format and 311 miles in AWD specification.
All cars now come with a battery heating system, battery pre-conditioning and heat pump as standard. They also all feature heated front seats and steering wheel, dual 12.3-inch displays with wireless phone mirroring, dual zone climate control and keyless entry.
The range starts at £39,900 for the Advance standard range model, rising to £55,900 for the fully-loaded N Line S with all-wheel-drive and long-range battery.
