Honda has announced pricing for its new Super-N city car with start at £18,995 when order books open on June 22.
Derived from Honda’s Japan-only kei cars, the Super-N is inspired by the Japanese firm’s City Turbo II from the 1980s, and measures just shy of 3.6 metres long and 1.6m wide.
The Super-N is the Japanese firm’s latest attempt at an EV, following the loveable-but-flawed e, and the underwhelming e:Ny1.
Packing a tiny, front-mounted 64bhp electric motor, the Super-N comes with a clever e-Axle that increases power to 95bhp in short bursts with ‘Boost Mode’ engaged. With Boost Mode on, the Super N’s 0-62mph time is cut from 14.5 seconds to 10 seconds flat.
Thanks to a comparatively light kerb weight of just 1,097kg and a small 29.6kWh battery, the Super-N has a quoted 128-mile WLTP range. However, reports suggest that this figure is easily exceeded thanks to a consumption rate of 5 miles/kWh, pointing to a real-world number closer to its claimed city range of 199 miles.
DC charging is capped at 50kWh, but given the Super N’s tiny battery, a 10 to 80% top-up is doable in around 30 minutes. Using a 7kW home wallbox, it can be fully charged in under five hours.
The Super N’s party piece is a simulated seven-speed transmission that can be used as either an automatic or a manual. To add to the driving experience, Honda has fitted its smallest EV yet with a synthesised engine note, which is derived from the City Turbo II and the Integra Type R DC2.

“It’s been designed to embody the Japanese philosophies of Yukai and Tsukai, which translate as delight and exhilaration respectively, and as a result, it delivers a sense of excitement the moment you see it. Ultimately, it’s a car that’s been developed by a group of passionate engineers that believe in Honda’s abilities to turn dreams into reality.”
The Honda Super-N is yet another A-segment EV to come to market. Upon arrival later this year, the Renault Twingo will be considered its main rival, and the next-gen Dacia Spring will join the party around the same time.
