Genesis plans electrified expansion across Europe
Premium EV brand Genesis is expanding into four new European markets as it looks to strengthen its position on the continent.
The marque already operates in the UK, Germany and Switzerland, but now intends to establish a presence in France, Italy, Spain and The Netherlands within the next 12 months.
“Our entry into these important markets is a pivotal moment for Genesis,” commented the brand’s European managing director, Xavier Martinet.
“We are moving now to deepen our long-term presence and commitment across Europe. This is the most significant market expansion since we launched in Europe in 2021 and is the start of our next phase of measured, strategic growth, and sporting brand direction.
Genesis will launch as an all-electric brand in the four new territories, following its approach to the UK market, where it has ceased sales of petrol and diesel models.
Like the UK, in France, Italy, Spain and The Netherlands, Genesis will offer three freshly updated EVs – the GV70 SUV, smaller GV60 crossover and the flagship G80 saloon. Deliveries will start in the new markets in early 2026.
Martinet added: “Our distinctive electric models have strong European appeal and the demand is growing. With these new markets, and our audacious approach to motorsport, we look forward to introducing new customers to our design-driven performance brand.”
Genesis made the announcement at the 2025 24h of Le Mans race, where its Magma racing team was competing for the first time ahead of full entry into the 2026 WEC calendar with the GMR-001 Hypercar.
Later this year it is expected to launch the first roadgoing Magma product. The GV60 Magma will use technology borrowed from parent company Hyundai to create a more potent version of the already-quick GV60. Full specifications are still to be announced but it is expected to produce in excess of 600bhp from a twin-motor setup. Early images show a lower, wider stance than the standard car along with significant aerodynamic embellishments.
