New Genesis G80 pricing to start from £75,615

The new Genesis G80 will be priced from £75,616 as order books open for the all-electric luxury saloon.

The Genesis G80 is Genesis’ answer to the likes of the BMW i5, the Mercedes EQE, and the Volvo S90. Its updated 94.5kWh battery gives South Korea’s luxury barge a range of 354 miles, and can be charged from 10% to 80% in 25 minutes.

The new Genesis G80 is powered by a dual-motor set up producing 365bhp, 516lb ft of torque, and can manage the 0-62mph run in 5.1 seconds. Like the brand’s GV60 and GV70 EV, the G80 comes with Genesis’ Virtual Gear Shift, which simulates a conventional gearbox from an internal combustion engine.

Externally, the updated Genesis G80 has been sharpened up and fitted with standard 19-inch alloy wheels to give it a contemporary appearance without changing its distinctive silhouette. The brand’s signature crest grille dominates the front end. The new model is now exclusively sold in extended wheelbase form, adding 13cm to the car’s length.

Inside, the G80 benefits from a one-piece 27-inch screen housing the infotainment system and the driver display. In terms of further tech, biometric recognition is now available with Genesis’ smartphone-based Digital Key 2.

An anti-bacterial storage compartment is housed within the front armrest, while the ‘Tunnel Mode’ system automatically closes the G80’s windows and activates the air conditioning in enclosed spaces to protect passengers from harmful emissions.

In terms of standard equipment, the new Genesis G80 comes well-stocked with a 17-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system and active road noise cancelling measures. Further kit includes a head-up display, digital blind-spot view monitors, an electronically-controlled suspension, collision avoidance, parking assist, driving assist, and a 360-degree camera.

The updated G80 comes with a raft of options including a £2,640 second-row comfort pack, which gives rear occupants power-closing doors, electric side window blinds and one-touch “Backlite” curtains. Further options include a £2,620 Nappa leather pack, rear-wheel steering for £1,120, £240 white brake callipers, and a V2L system for £300.
