Citroen reveals beach-ready Ami Buggy Rip Curl
Citroen has unveiled a new surf-inspired special edition of its Ami Buggy, renewing a partnership with fashion brand Rip Curl.
The Citroen Ami Buggy Rip Curl Vision is the latest collaboration between the two brands and is a beach-ready take on Citroen’s tiny all-electric quadricycle.
The new Ami Buggy concept draws inspiration from Rip Curl’s surfing roots and, says Citroen “embodies all the attributes of an adventurer focused on escape and leisure”.
Designed to provide emissions-free transport for surfers, the Ami Buggy Rip Curl is being showcased at the international finals of the Rip Curl GromSearch contest in Hossegor, France, from November 4 to 8.
Citroen says it embodies the surfer spirit while meeting riders’ real needs for easy mobility, gear transport and comfortable changing.

The special edition features unique purple and white two-tone paint, white stickers on the rear quarter window and wheel arches, and white detailing around the headlights.
It also gets a roof spoiler and roof-mounted LED lightbar which double up as mounts for a surfboard. Alternatively, users can sling their board on a door-mounted carrier, or hang a dedicated waterproof storage bag from the tubular doors. There’s even an onboard shower and changing mat to clean off after a surf.
Inside, the Buggy’s floor mats are made from recycled wetsuits and designed to be waterproof and easy to clear. There’s also a fold-out waterproof storage bin on the passenger side and a banana pouch attached to the steering wheel for post-surf sustenance.

Off-road tyres ensure the Ami Buggy can make it across the sand to the surf.
Citroen CEO Xavier Chardon, commented: “Ami Buggy Rip Curl Vision embodies the free spirit and creativity that unite the two brands. With this concept, we are reaffirming our commitment to making electric mobility accessible, starting with micro-mobility, accessible from the age of 14 and geared towards leisure.” – CEO Citroën
Rip Curl’s European president Mathieu Lefin added: “We are proud to be collaborating on the Ami Buggy Rip Curl Vision concept car, designing it to be the dream car for young surfers. This project allows us to highlight our recycling processes for used wetsuits, emphasising the shared commitment of our two brands to sustainability and innovation in the service of freedom and adventure.”

Citroen and Rip Curl first teamed up in 2016 on a special edition of the C4 Cactus and have since launched variants of the C4 Picasso, SpaceTourer, C3 Aircross and Berlingo. While the Rip Curl Vision is a concept car, it is said to be the “opening of a new chapter” in the partnership.
