BYD Dolphin Cargo van makes a splash with £29k price tag and over 1,000l of load space
BYD has launched its all-electric Dolphin Cargo van, priced from £29,358 excluding VAT, with a maximum payload of 1,093 litres.
Aimed squarely at the likes of the trendy Volvo EX30 Cargo and the slightly larger Ford Explorer van, the 4.2 metre-long BYD Dolphin Cargo packs a maximum load length of 1,250mm, and a maximum load width of 1,160mm.
The Dolphin Cargo also benefits from a 47-litre, underfloor storage space.

Further standard equipment includes a heat pump to maximise range during the colder months, a heated steering wheel, and heated front seats. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a 360-degree parking camera are all integrated into the dashboard’s centrally-mounted 12.8-inch touchscreen.
The BYD Dolphin Cargo is the brand’s second electric-only van to launch in the UK, following the short-lived ETP3. In mainland Europe, however, it offers the mid-sized ETM 6, the Mercedes e-Actros-rivalling ETH 8 HGV, and the EYT 2.0 yard tractor.

With VAT included, the Dolphin Cargo will cost £36,305 and is available from selected dealers across the UK.
The BYD Dolphin Cargo is a commercial derivative of the mid-sized Dolphin hatchback. Alongside the Dolphin, BYD’s UK electric line-up of passenger cars comprises the Dolphin Surf, the Atto 2 and Atto 3 Evo, the Tesla Model 3-rivalling Seal, and the range-topping Sealion 7.
In the coming months, it will add its new ‘built in Europe, for Europe’ Dolphin G PHEV to the roster, as well as the Land Rover Defender-rivalling Ti7 seven-seater. It will also launch its premium Denza brand via its Z9 GT model, which will be compatible with BYD’s 1,500kW ‘Flash’ charging network when it’s rolled out across the UK later this year.
