AC Ace electric announced with 300bhp and 200-mile range
British sports car firm AC is launching an all-electric version of one of its most famous models.
The AC Ace Classic electric will be fully unveiled at the SEMA 2024 show on 5 November but ahead of that, the company has revealed the first details and images of its newest creation.
Based on the recently launched ICE version of the Ace Classic, the all-electric variant uses the same hand-crafted carbon fibre technology to bring the iconic shape of the Ace into the 21st century. However, rather than the 320bhp Ford EcoBoost engine, it uses a 301bhp/369lb ft motor from US specialist Tremec.
Weighing just 1,134kg, the Ace manages to cover the 0-62mph run in 4.9 seconds and can hit 130mph flat-out.
The rear-mounted motor is paired with a 72kWh battery which AC says gives the electric Ace a range of more than 200 miles.
The new car uses what AC calls an ‘original-type’ chassis but in place of the original aluminium bodywork, the Ace EV features a handmade carbon fibre shell that mimics the original shape while adding modern touches such as curved side in place of the original’s flat flanks.
The shells will be built at AC’s UK factory and come in two designs. The Ace Bristol Classic electric uses the earlier ‘smiling face’ front end design, while the Ace Classic features the later open grille design that would go on to be made by the Cobra.
Both versions of the electric Ace will be available in limited numbers, with prices starting at £213,000 ($275,000). Reservations are open now and first deliveries are expected in 2025.
