Vauxhall drops prices of EV models in response to Plug-In Grant changes
Vauxhall has repositioned the pricing of its Corsa-e and Mokka-e models following the changes to the Government’s Plug-in Car Grant.
Last week, the Government cut its Plug-in Car Grant incentive by £1000, as well as changing the eligibility criteria to target cheaper EV models.
Following the changes, consumers will receive just £1,500 off the purchase of a new electric vehicle, with cars with an RRP of £32,000 now eligible, of which there are around 20 models available in the UK.
In response to the changes, Vauxhall has dropped the prices of all Corsa-e and Mokka-e models by £3,000, in order for them to meet the criteria of the new Plug-in Car Grant.
Effective immediately, Vauxhall’s most expensive electric model, the Mokka-e Ultimate, now has an on-the-road (OTR) price of £30,495 with the grant. The Corsa-e SE model, Vauxhall’s cheapest EV, now also has an OTR price of £25,805.
Paul Willcox, managing director Vauxhall, said: “Vauxhall wants to move the UK to electric motoring as quickly as possible, which is why we have committed to being an electric-only brand from 2028.
“In light of a further evolution to the Government Plug-in Car Grant, we have taken the decision to change our pricing policy on our all-electric Corsa-e and Mokka-e models.
“With more attainable pricing from significant reductions on both models, as well as the grant, we hope to put zero-emissions-in-use motoring within the reach of even more British motorists.”
