Volkswagen UK is giving customers a discount of up to £2,500 on selected all-electric ID models as part of its ‘End of Summer’ sale, starting on Monday, August 24 and ending on Monday, September 14.
The German manufacturer is offering an extra £1,000 off four all-electric ID models, three of which already qualify for the UK Government’s £1,500 Electric Car Grant (ECG).
Cars that come under the End of Summer sale umbrella are the ID 3 hatchback, the ID 4 SUV, and the ID 5 SUV coupé in entry-level Pure Essential guise. All count for the ECG.
The ID 7 Tourer estate is also said to qualify for the price cut, but Volkswagen has not provided any information surrounding pricing and specification. EV Powered has reached out to Volkswagen UK for clarification, and will update this story accordingly.
With the ECG and the End of Summer discount factored in, the ID 3 now starts from £28,360, while the ID 4 and ID 5 are priced from £34,495 each.
The ID 3 Pure Essential trim has a 52kWh battery capable of 241 miles on a single charge. Standard equipment includes cloth upholstery, LED lighting front and rear, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality, plus 18-inch aero wheels.
The larger ID 4 and ID 5 share the same 58kWh battery, with the former travelling 268 miles on a single charge, and the latter covering 271 miles.
The ID 4 rides on all-black, 19-inch steel wheels, with matching roof rails and wing mirror covers. Additional equipment includes armrests for the driver and passenger, plus dual-zone climate control, keyless entry and go, plus a faux-leather steering wheel.
The ID 5 is equally well-appointed. It comes with an electrically operated tailgate, tinted rear glass from the B-pillar backwards, and 19-inch diamond-turned alloys.
To qualify for the £1,000 discount, the vehicle must be ordered between August 24 and September 14. It can be delivered to the buyer no later than December 31 this year. ID models exempt from the price cuts are the ID Buzz, the new ID 3 Neo and the upcoming ID Cross and ID Polo.
Volkswagen’s End of Summer sale appears to have been introduced to clear the decks for its upcoming second wave of electric-only models, which include the latter three models.
