Hongqi prepares for European debut with innovative electric vehicles

Hongqi, China’s oldest and most prestigious automobile brand, is set to make its European debut with its cutting-edge electric vehicle (EV) models, the EH7 and EHS7.

These popular models, enhanced specifically for European consumers, will be launched later this year, starting with their premiere at the world-famous Goodwood Festival of Speed this week.

The EH7 and EHS7 stand out with unique design elements, such as the Rialto Bridge-inspired curvature, Gabriel’s Wing taillights, and Sword of Saint Roland headlights. These features create a distinctive aesthetic that fuses Eastern craftsmanship with Western tastes.

Designed to excel in cold climates, the EH7 and EHS7 retain 50% of their range at -20℃ and can be charged in just 30 minutes at -10℃, making them particularly suited to the colder climates of the UK and Europe.

In preparation for its European launch, Hongqi has established partnerships with various dealerships across Europe, including in Norway, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Denmark, Iceland, and Sweden.

The Goodwood Festival of Speed, a significant event in the luxury car culture of the UK, marks a pivotal moment for Hongqi’s global expansion. The preview of the EH7 and EHS7 at the festival underscores the brand’s mission to merge traditional luxury with modern EV technology, aiming to captivate the European market.

EV Powered will be one of the first to experience both cars at the festival as we will be experiencing the famed Goodwood hill climb in both models and we look forward to reporting on the experience afterwards.

The EH7

Key features

The EH7 and EHS7 models introduce groundbreaking technologies and design elements that distinguish them in the EV market. The EH7 offers an impressive range of up to 690 kilometres on a single charge and supports super-fast charging, achieving a 20-minute charge time. Both models are compatible with a variety of European charging stations.

Performance-wise, the vehicles feature a 22,500 RPM motor, enabling the EH7 to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds, with the EHS7 being only slightly slower. Superior braking systems by Brembo, along with advanced steering and suspension systems, ensure a comfortable and responsive driving experience.

Safety is paramount in both models, which include robust battery protection systems to prevent fires and explosions during accidents and maintain integrity in severe weather conditions. The vehicles meet the E-NCAP five-star safety standards, reflecting high body safety standards.

Hongqi’s introduction of the EH7 and EHS7 models to the European market is a testament to its commitment to innovation and luxury, poised to leave a lasting impression on the European automotive landscape.
