Volkswagen Transporter EV adds Kombi and 8-seat Shuttle to range
Volkswagen has expanded its electric Transporter range with two new passenger-friendly variants.
The electric T7 Transporter launched earlier this year in panel van form and has now been joined by Shuttle and Kombi BEV versions, which get an all-electric powertrain option for the first time.
The Kombi is priced from £53,404 and brings a new degree of flexibility to the Transporter EV with standard and long wheelbase options offering a payload of up to 896kg. It comes as standard with five seats and includes the option to add a sixth via a central front-row seat.
Volkswagen says the Transporter Kombi BEV will cover up to 196 miles on a full charge of its 65kWh battery.
The Shuttle people carrier, long beloved of airport taxi firms, uses the same battery for an official range of up to 194 miles and is also available in standard- or long-wheelbase guise. The latest version comes with eight seats as standard and, like the Kombi, an additional seat can be specified in the front row.
Prices for the Transporter Shuttle BEV start from £56,129 for the short-wheelbase model, with orders for it and the Kombi open now.

Both vans use a rear-mounted 134bhp/317lb ft motor and feature 125kW charging that allows a 18-80% charge in around 40 minutes.
Each model comes with a choice of two trim levels. All versions come with LED lights, a 12-inch digital instrument display and 13-inch infotainment screen, wireless Android and Apple mirroring, reversing camera, cruise control, lane assist and dynamic road sign recognition.
The entry-level Kombi Commerce Plus also gets a heat pump, heated seats and steering wheel, single-zone air conditioning and lumbar support, plus all-season tyres. The Commerce Pro adds 16-inch alloy wheels, tinted rear glass, a heated steering wheel and heated windscreen, wireless phone charging and more advanced driver assistance including adaptive cruise control.
The Shuttle Life gets 16-inch alloys as standard in place of the diesel version’s steel ones. It also adds all-season tyres and a heat pump on top of the standard diesel model’s specification, which also includes seven USB sockets in the cab and six in the rear.
Above that, the Shuttle Pro BEV adds a 17-inch alloy wheels, powered exterior mirrors, heated steering wheel, seats and windscreen, three-zone climate control, sun shades on rear passenger windows and faux-leather upholstery.
