Vauxhall offers London drivers free EV charging for a month
Vauxhall EV drivers in London are being offered free kerbside charging for the next month through a partnership between the car maker and charging firm Jolt.
The tie-up gives anyone who drives a Vauxhall electric car or van free access to 40 Jolt chargers around north west London between February 3 and March 2.
Jolt’s on-street chargers combine 25kW DC chargers with digital advertising hoardings, which will feature adverts for the new Vauxhall Grandland throughout the promotion. A number of its locations will also be wrapped in Vauxhall livery for the duration of the partnership.
Vauxhall drivers can take advantage of the offer by registering their car on the Jolt app, which then applies the free charging.
Currently, thanks to advertising revenue generated from the hoardings, Jolt offers any driver 7kWh of free charging per day, equating to around 30 miles. After this, customers are charged 35p per kWh.
Vauxhall continues to run its Electric Streets campaign, which aims to identify and support areas which require better access to on-street charging.
Vauxhall marketing director Phil Douglass, said: “Access to on-street charging continues to be a hot topic to ensure the UK can continue along its electrification journey. In partnership with Jolt, Vauxhall is continuing to support electric vehicle drivers, offering free charging for any Vauxhall electric vehicle customer visiting a Jolt unit. We’re committed to electrifying Britain and look forward to seeing even more innovative on-street charging solutions for drivers to make their day-to-day journeys.”
“Our collaboration with Vauxhall sets a new benchmark for public EV charging,” added John Rainford, UK country manager at Jolt. “This campaign highlights the power of integrating high-impact advertising with essential infrastructure.
“By delivering cost-effective, accessible, and sustainable charging solutions, we’re not just supporting EV drivers – we’re empowering communities, boosting local economies, generating revenue for local authorities, enabling community messaging, and supporting local businesses and charities. Together with Vauxhall, we’re showing how innovative partnerships can drive meaningful change and a cleaner, greener future.”
