Vauxhall Mokka GSE Rally powers up for electric rallying
Vauxhall has unveiled the Mokka GSE Rally concept, showcasing its next generation of electric rally car.
Although sharing a name with the brand’s compact electric SUV, the Vauxhall Mokka GSE Rally is a heavily modified competition-spec vehicle and the first car developed according to the FIA’s new eRally5 regulations.
Designed for two-wheel-drive series, the Vauxhall Mokka GSE Rally is powered by a 276bhp/254lb ft motor on the front axle, supported by a multi-plate limited-slip differential to aid traction. A racing gearbox, reinforced drive shafts and wheel hubs feature to help transmit the power, while rally-tuned suspension from Bilstein features reinforced McPherson struts at the front and a rigid rear axle with modified springs and dampers.
Although the Mokka GSE Rally uses the same 54kWh battery as the road-going Mokka Electric, the software and battery management systems have been calibrated for maximum performance in competition situations, based on sister brand Opel’s experience with its Corsa Electric Rally.
From the outside, the Mokka GSE Rally still looks like a Mokka but features a roof-mounted air scoop eye-catching “OMG! GSE” decals, bright yellow brake callipers behind gloss black front wheels, and matching bright yellow rims at the rear.

Inside, the Mokka’s cabin has been stripped out and a full roll cage installed along with Sparco racing seats featuring competition-spec five-point harnesses.
The Mokka GSE Rally will make its debut at the ELE Rally Eindhoven on May 23-24 and although it is technically a prototype, Vauxhall says it has the potential to be offered as a customer competition car as early as the 2026 season.
The British brand’s sister marque Opel already supplies the Corsa Electric “powered by GSe” for the ADAC Opel Electric Rally Cup – the world’s first and only all-electric one-make rally competition, which is now in its fifth season.
Florian Huettl, Opel & Vauxhall CEO, said: “For more than four years, Opel and the ADAC have been demonstrating that electric rallying is a winning success and excites fans. With our new Mokka GSE Rally, we are offering a glimpse of a fully electric next-generation rally car. Thanks to the latest motorsport technology, the prototype offers potent performance and power in equal measure.”
