The Range Rover Electric has made its long-awaited public debut today, appearing in full production specification on the opening day of the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The electric SUV, which will take on the likes of the BMW iX and Mercedes G580 when it arrives, takes centre stage in the Range Rover gallery at the West Sussex event, which runs until Sunday 12 July. It is the closest look the public has had at the car ahead of its global reveal later in 2026, and follows a delay that pushed the launch back from 2025.
Demand already looks healthy. More than 16,000 customers have joined the waiting list for the brand’s first EV, which promises the effortless performance, refinement and all-terrain ability that have defined Range Rover for more than five decades, only this time with batteries.
EV Powered’s Managing Editor, Richard Alvin, saw the car in the metal at Goodwood today. “It looks amazing,” he said. “In production form it has all the presence and polish you expect of a Range Rover, and the electric powertrain appears to be a natural fit rather than an afterthought. If the driving experience matches the way it looks, this could be a great seller for JLR.”
London calling
The Range Rover Electric is not the only draw on the stand. It is joined by the new Range Rover London Editions, a quartet of special versions named Westminster, Battersea, Belgravia and Hoxton. Each interprets a different side of the capital through bespoke design details, materials and finishes, underlining the brand’s push into personalisation and contemporary luxury.
The theme continues across a curated programme of appearances through the British summer season, each chosen to reflect the same mix of culture, design and performance.
There is action on the famous hill too. The Range Rover Sport SV Ultimate Edition is tackling the hillclimb on all four days of the festival, giving crowds a dynamic demonstration of its performance and capability.
