Ovo offers VW van drivers extra buzz with 30,000 free electric miles

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles drivers are now able to benefit from up to 30,000 free electric miles, if they switch to Ovo’s ‘Charge Anytime’ plan by May 31st, 2025.

Ovo is VW’s official charging partner, and ID. Buzz, ID. Buzz Cargo, and e-Transporter owners who add the Ovo Charge Anytime option to their existing energy plan will receive 10,000 free electric miles for simply making the switch. Moreover, they will get an additional 10,000 miles annual each year for two years when they remain with Charge Anytime.

Just last week, Volkswagen also rolled out the Charge Anytime offer across its range of all-electric ID. cars – the ID.3, ID.4, ID.5, and ID.7.

Ovo customers using the Charge Anytime tariff can charge their EV for as little as 7p/kWh at home, irrespective of the time of day. According to Ovo, this can lead to savings of up to £620 per-year on charging alone.

While much has been publicised about Volkswagen expanding its all-electric car range with the upcoming Polo-sized ID. 2 and e-Up!-sized ID. Every1, the German giant has been somewhat quieter on the commercial vehicle front.

However, in March this year, it released a new entry-level ID. Buzz Cargo with a £36k starting price tag before VAT. Its price is reflected in its 59kWh battery and 168bhp motor; both of which are smaller than the 282bhp or 335bhp options on more expensive models with their larger batteries.

Nonetheless, VW says that this cheaper variant has a range of up to 200 miles, and retains the 165kW charging capability of its larger siblings, meaning it can be charged from 5-80% in 30 minutes.

Despite a rocky start to life with its ID. models during the early 2020s, Volkswagen has clawed back signficant ground in the EV market after addressing issues mostly related to the line-up’s touch-only infotainment system and UX. Earlier this month, the Volkswagen Group reported that sales of its all-electric line have doubled to around 19% in Europe alone. Further gains were also made in the Americas with its EV range.
