Octopus Fleet to help businesses easily drop ICE for EV

Octopus Energy has rolled out its Octopus Fleet package, which is designed for businesses seeking to electrify their fleet operations with ease.

Part of the Octopus Electroverse, Octopus Fleet comprises four mix-and-match smart solutions, allowing companies to tailor their own tech-based smart bundle. Overall, Fleet is designed to slash admin for businesses, while introducing more transparent cost control and charging data in a single invoice.

The Octopus Electroverse is a mobile-based, all-in-one solution, based around a single app and map.

Drivers using the new product will have access to the Electroverse’s 1.3 million EV charging points across 50 countries, and the Octopus Fleet Charging Card provides seamless top-up charges for existing fleets switching from petrol and diesel to electric.

The Octopus Payments Card enables one-tap payments for drivers on everything from charge sessions to other business-related expenses. Clean tech options are also part of the deal, with Octopus offering businesses EV chargers, rooftop solar charging, and battery storage solutions.

The latter comes as Octopus launches its Home Charging Reimbursement programme, which allows fleet drivers to charge at home and be paid back for their efforts.

All that’s required is to plug the vehicle into a compatible home charger and select whether the charge is for business or personal use. At the end of each month, the linked account will be reimbursed for any business expenses.

Following Octopus Fleet’s arrival, Octopus Electroverse director, Matt Davies, hailed its fuss-free approach to business charging at a time when almost one in four fleet vehicles are fully electric.

He said: “Choosing an electric vehicle is easier than ever, but every business operates differently, and we’ve seen that it can be a challenge to scale up electrification efforts, and to make the EV switch a no-brainer for drivers.

“With Octopus Fleet we’re offering a ‘menu’ of simple products that make sense regardless of how a fleet operates – with great options across public, home and depot charging, and for keeping your existing fleet running.”
