New Skoda Superb PHEV hatch gets 268bhp and 76 miles of EV-only range
The Skoda Superb hatch has received a new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain producing 268bhp, making it the most powerful Superb yet.
To achieve this figure, Skoda has mated its 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine with an electric motor powered by a 25.7kWh battery. The hybrid powertrain also propels Skoda’s largest passenger car from 0-62mph in 7.1 seconds, while delivering 295lb ft of torque and a two-tonne towing capacity.
While Skoda has yet to announce any official range figures for the Superb hatch PHEV, we know it shares its battery with the full-sized Kodiaq iV plug-in hybrid, which has an electric-only range of up to 76 miles. The battery has a 50kW fast-charging rate, enabling a 10-80% charge in around 26 minutes.

The Kodiaq PHEV has a combined range of around 620 miles. Given the Superb’s lower mass, we expect it to manage slightly more when numbers are made public.
To handle the additional power, Skoda has increased the braking system with larger rear brakes measuring 310mm in diameter and 22mm wide. The front brakes benefit from an airflow channel beneath the bumper, which drives more efficient airflow to the discs.

The Skoda Superb PHEV debuted in 2019 with the 200bhp estate variant. Alongside the Superb and the Kodiaq, the other plug-in hybrid model in the Czech carmaker’s range is the Octavia iV.
Since going on sale, Skoda has sold over 68,000 Superb PHEVs and one in four of the latest-generation cars are sold with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. It is unclear whether Skoda will fully electrify the Superb as part of its electrification strategy.
Nonetheless, Skoda remains committed to having EVs comprise a significant portion of its line-up. In addition to the all-electric, award-winning Enyaq and Elroq, the smaller Epiq and seven-seat Peaq will arrive later this year. In 2025, the Vision O Concept hinted at what a future electric Octavia could look like.
