MG confirms price for seven-seat MGS9 PHEV
MG has announced that it will launch its first seven-seater in the UK this spring, with prices for the MGS9 starting at under £35,000.
The rival to plug-in variants of the Skoda Kodiaq, Peugeot 5008 and Kia Sorento will arrive in UK showrooms at the end of March offering up to 62 miles of all-electric range and a generous specification.
Prices will start at £34,205 for entry level models, with top-spec cars coming in at £36,945, significantly undercutting its French, Czech and Korean rivals. Full specification will be revealed in the coming weeks but the MGS9 PHEV will feature a panoramic sunroof, heated and ventilated massage seats, and tri-zone air conditioning
The full-size seven-seat SUV uses the same plug-in hybrid powertrain already in use in the MG HS PHEV. This combines a turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol engine with a 135kW electric motor and a 24.7kWh battery.
Combined, the motors produce 295bhp while the battery offers 62 miles of pure-electric motoring. That’s less than the HS’s 75 miles, but the MGS9 is a much bigger car.
MG says it offers comfortable seating for seven across three rows, along with 332 litres of boot space with all the seats in place. In five-seat configuration that grows to more than 1,000 litres.

David Allison, MG UK’s director of product and planning, who previously confirmed plans for the car to EV Powered, said: “The launch of the MGS9 PHEV represents a significant milestone for MG, marking our entry into the seven-seat SUV segment and further strengthening our position in the large SUV market.
“As a vehicle that is both longer and taller than the MG HS, the all-new MGS9 PHEV delivers enhanced presence and versatility, offering the flexibility of a third row to meet the evolving needs of modern families and lifestyle-driven customers.”
