MFG to expand London charging network by 30%

Charge point operator MFG will expand its London EV charging network by 30% this year to meet increasing customer demand.

Currently, MFG has approximately 150 London charging sites but its recent investment will see it add seven ultra-rapid charging hubs equipped with 300kWh-400kWh chargers to its network. In line with London’s zero-carbon by 2030 drive, it will also expand three sites within its regular charging networks.

MFG says that its new London charging hubs will have on average seven bays and come fitted with its ultra-fast chargers to meet the rising demand in the capital. As of March 2025, findings have shown that EV adoption across the capital has increased to 4,550 vehicles, representing a 50% year-on-year increase.

Martin Symes, MFG’s EV director said: “London is a key focus for our EV charging infrastructure investment, as we continue to see high demand for reliable, high-speed charging across the UK but particularly in the capital.

“By expanding existing sites and bringing new hubs online, we are ensuring EV drivers have access to the ultra-rapid facilities they need, helping to make EV ownership more convenient and accessible.”

MFG has also acquired 337 Morrisons supermarket forecourts nationwide, five of which will be added to its London network. Currently, MFG’s Morrisons sites within the city are located in Hatch End and Palmers Green. Further Morrisons forecourts will be opened in Borehamwood, Stratford, and Queensbury later this year. By the end of 2025, MFG will have installed its charging facilities at 300 Morrisons sites across the country.

Earlier in 2025, MFG’s non-Morrisons charging forecourts were opened in St. Paul’s Cray, Bush Hill, Leyton, and Ilford. Another will be opened in Sunbury on Thames by the time the year is out.

This latest expansion is part of MFG’s £400m investment into EV charging network by 2030. It has already installed around 1,000 ultra-rapid chargers across 200 UK locations. This year alone, it has spent approximately £170m in upgrading its forecourt network.
