Charging operator Motor Fuel Group (MFG) has announced it is extending a temporary 25% discount on charging across its network.

The UK’s largest forecourt operator launched a special offer over the summer, slashing prices from 79p to 59p per kWh.

It has now confirmed that the saving will carry on for users of the MFG Connect App.

The 25% reduction equates to a £6 saving on a typical 30kWh top-up across the firm’s entire network of chargers. MFG currently operates more than 1,000 devices spread across nearly 600 locations and offering between 150kW and 400kW outputs.

It recently acquired supermarket chain Morrisons’s filling station portfolio and already has 300 chargers at Morrisons forecourts, with plans for rapid expansion.

The group intends to spend £400 million between now and 2030 to support the roll-out of more than 3,000 ultra-rapid chargers across 500 sites.

Martin Symes, EV director at MFG, commented: “We are investing over £400 million to build an ultra-rapid network that drivers can rely on. We continue to add new bays at Morrisons supermarkets and forecourts across the country, alongside the shops, food and coffee people want while they charge.

“Making EV driving easier also means making it simpler and more affordable. With the MFG Connect app, drivers can start and pay for a charge in a few taps and pay just 59p per kWh at every one of our sites, among the most competitive ultra-rapid app rates in the UK.”

Since the discount offer launched at the start of July, more than 100 million electric miles have been added at MFG chargers.

To take advantage of the extended MFG charging discount drivers simply have to download the MFG Connect app, register for a free account and pay for their charging session through the app at any MFG site.
