Mercedes eVito gets 90kWh battery and 298-mile range

Mercedes has updated its eVito panel van with a 90kWh battery, and a WLTP range of up to 298 miles.

The new battery replaces the 60kWh unit found in the previous-generation eVito, and can be combined with either an 114bhp motor, or a more powerful 201bhp motor from the the eVito passenger van; the latter of which produces 269lb ft of torque.

The latest eVito can be charged from 10%-80% within 40 minutes, and can accept a maximum charging rate of 110kW. According to Mercedes, the van’s starting price begins at around £38,500 (€46,000) for the 5.2m-long variant. Prices will increase accordingly with the extra-long 5.3m option.

Klaus Rehgkuyler, Mercedes-Benz Vans’ head of sales and marketing commented: “With the new variants of the eVito panel van, we are expanding the fields of application for commercial electromobility and ensuring that locally CO₂-emission-free mobility is even more suitable for everyday use.”

In terms of standard kit, the eVito panel is well equipped. It comes with Mercedes’ MBUX multimedia system displayed on a 10.25-inch central screen, a 5.5-inch digital driver display, and keyless start. Further equipment includes rain-activated wipers, plus a driver assistance package  featuring  active braking, active headlamps, and lane assist.

Moreover, the eVito is approved for the UK government’s funded Plug-in Van Grant (PIVG), meaning buyers can benefit from a potential deduction of up to £5,000 from the starting price. The Mercedes eVito is another step in the brand’s commercial vehicle electrification programme. Towards the end of 2024, the three-pointed star began production of its all-electric eActross 600 full-size, long-haul HGV.

The Vito has been part of Mercedes’ commercial van range since 1996. The eVito was introduced in 2018 with the third-generation model. Other electric vans in Mercedes’ line-up include the eCitan and the eSprinter. At present, it is offering discounts of £4,800 – £7,200 across the range.
