Mercedes-Benz Trucks calls on EVBox for European charging support

Mercedes-Benz Trucks has partnered with ENGIE and EVBox Group to develop electric charging solutions for its European fleet.

Together with ENGIE, EVBox Group will offer its knowledge on electricity and EV charging solutions for the central depot charging of truck fleets to Mercedes-Benz Trucks customers.

The partnership will see EVBox and ENGIE provide an analysis of customer depots and the development of the appropriate infrastructure and energy supply, including intelligent charging solutions (hardware). Both partners will help support the maintenance of the charging stations, as well as offering consulting services and technical DC training.

Andreas von Wallfeld, head of marketing, sales and services at Mercedes-Benz Trucks, said: “Considering the complexity of the associated processes when it comes to electric mobility, it is crucial to set the right course for the optimal use and integration of fully electric truck fleets. We want to handle any concerns our customers may have at this point and also assure them that our full-service offering will cover all future automotive needs.”

The products and services of EVBox Group and ENGIE Group were extensively tested by Mercedes-Benz Trucks and the charging stations were also tested with all current and future electrically powered commercial vehicles from Mercedes-Benz Trucks. In addition, numerous compatibility tests were successfully conducted with the Mercedes-Benz Trucks charging management system.

Kristof Vereenooghe, CEO of EVBox Group, commented: “With over 10 years of experience in offering integrated charging solutions for electric vehicles, we know the importance of clear guidelines, reliable products, and excellent service at every stage of the customer journey. Fleet electrification will play a major role in meeting CO2 goals, especially as transport accounts for almost a quarter of Europe’s greenhouse gas emissions. Therefore, I’m looking forward to beginning this partnership with Mercedes-Benz Trucks and ENGIE.

“With our expertise, EVBox Group will support Mercedes-Benz customers by delivering scalable and intelligent charging solutions to help establish sustainable transportation across Europe.”
