Lucid to arrive in UK next year with dedicated RHD Cosmos model
US EV manufacturer Lucid has confirmed it will make its UK debut in 2027, five years after launching its Air saloon in mainland Europe.
The brand’s first UK vehicle will be the BMW iX3 and Volvo EX60-rivalling Cosmos, a premium C-segment SUV based on a dedicated 800V platform.
Set for release later this year, the Lucid Cosmos will be built at the firm’s recently built plant in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and will be developed for right-hand-drive (RHD) markets from the off.
In 2028, Lucid will add a rugged, off-road and adventure-focused Earth model to its line-up, followed by a more practical, and presumably larger version of the Cosmos thereafter.
Depending on the success of the Cosmos, Lucid is considering converting its full-sized Gravity SUV (pictured below) to RHD.

In terms of its European operations, Lucid has just signed its first dealer group in Germany, and will continue with a traditional dealer network when it arrives in the UK. It doesn’t, however, have any plans to bring production to Europe.
First launched in 2025, the Lucid has already updated the Gravity for the 2027 model year with its DreamDrive 2 Premium, a suite of Level 2 advanced driver-assistance features. An additional key fob is also included as part of the improvements.
Despite facing some financial hurdles and recent missed production targets, Lucid remains backed by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund, which has been its principal backer since 2019.
While UK pricing for the Lucid Cosmos has yet to be confirmed, reports suggest that Lucid’s smallest SUV will be priced from less than $50,000 – the equivalent of just over £37,000. To keep costs down and accelerate development, the Lucid Cosmos will share 95% of its parts with its siblings.
The Cosmos is expected to run on just three electric control units (ECUs), suggesting that Lucid will adopt a software-defined approach with its upcoming model.
