Lotus Eletre X PHEV prices confirmed ahead of 2027 UK debut

Lotus has announced that pricing for its Eletre X plug-in hybrid (PHEV) SUV will start at just shy of €100,000 in mainland Europe, where order books have just opened.

Given that European pricing can be a good indicator of what to expect in the UK, this suggests that the entry-level car, the Eletre X H550 PHEV, will be priced at around £84,788, or €97,990. For reference, the purely electric Lotus Eletre 600 currently starts at £84,990.

Meanwhile, the range-topping Eletre X H1000 PHEV is priced from €121,990 or £105,557 at the time of writing. For reference, the equivalent EV-only Eletre 900 comes with a £130k pricetag. In addition to costs, there are several other differences between the two Eletre X models.

The H550 generates 542bhp and handles the 0-62mph run in 4.9 seconds, while the pokier H1000 slashes that to a supercar-worrying 3.3s. The ‘smaller’ of the two Eletre Xs weighs slightly less – 2,550 kilograms to 2,615kg – and rides on 20-inch cast alloys, instead of 21-inch forged rims.

In terms of powertrain tech, the Eletre X PHEV adopts an electric-first approach. Its twin motors deliver most of the driving power, with the turbocharged 201bhp petrol engine acting mostly as a generator for the battery.

Paired with a 70kWh battery, this plug-in hybrid drivetrain achieves a maximum electric-only range of 217 miles, or a combined 745-mile range. Thanks to ultra-fast charging 900V architecture, the Eletre X can charge from 20-80% in just nine minutes.

However, a significant technical difference between the two trim levels is that the Eletre X H550 has mechanical anti-roll bars, while the H1000 gets an active 48V setup.

As the Eletre X PHEV seeks to take on the luxury SUV heavyweights from Aston Martin, Ferrari, and Lamborghini, its CEO, Qingfeng Feng, said: “[The] Eletre X is proof of how cutting-edge technology can serve the driver, a value which is at the heart of the Lotus brand.

“We feel that we have created something that not only pushes the boundaries of what is possible from a technical standpoint but also enriches their emotional and practical driving experience.”
