Lexus UX 300e quietly pulled from sale in the UK
The Lexus UX 300e has been killed off after half a decade on sale in the UK.
The compact SUV was the Japanese premium brand’s first EV and despite beating rivals to market it failed to make much impact on the UK.
After noticing that the car had been removed from the Lexus UK website, EV Powered contacted Lexus who told us: “It is withdrawn from sale, that is the basic confirmation.”
Given Lexus and sister company Toyota’s slower than expected adoption of EVs, we suspect that slow sales were behind the UX 300e being discontinued.
Sharing a platform with the UX300h hybrid, the 300e came with a 54.3kWh battery and managed just 186 miles of range on the WLTP test cycle. Upon arrival in 2020, it also came with an already-outdated CHAdeMO charge connector, which offered a maximum charging speed of 50kW. Despite a mid-life refresh in 2024, Lexus has sold just 3,400 of them since 2021.

As things stand, the RZ SUV is the only all-electric Lexus on sale at present. While perhaps not as popular as other vehicles in the mid-sized SUV segment, such as the Tesla Model Y and Polestar 4, it does offer up to 346 miles of range and a much faster charging speed of 150kW.
Within a few months, Lexus will expand its UK EV line-up by adding the all-new ES. For the first time in its 37-year lifespan, the ES will be fully electric and will be available as either the 338bhp, all-wheel drive ES 500e, or the 221bhp, front-wheel drive ES 350e.
Both versions of the ES will come with a 77kWh battery, with the less powerful of the two managing 300 miles on a single charge. The additional performance of the more powerful version sees range slashed to 250 miles.
We recently reported that while Lexus is remaining tight-lipped on its plans, an electric-only version of its IS 200 saloon is heavily rumoured to come back as an EV by 2027.
