Kia EV4 GT squares up to VW ID.3 GTX as all-electric hot hatch
Kia has just dropped a teaser image of its EV4 GT, an all-wheel drive hot hatch expected to take the fight to the likes of the Volkswagen ID.3 GTX and the MG4 XPower.
Expected to arrive in 2026, the Kia EV4 GT was shown wearing what the South Korean carmaker calls its ‘GT Wrap’ – “a foil design dedicated to the company’s electric GT prototypes”.
This light and motion-capturing camouflage will be worn by Kia’s next generation of all-electric, performance-focused GT models during their development period. While there’s some time to go ahead of the EV4 GT’s official unveil, the teaser images showe re-designed bumpers front and rear, plus 20-inch rims and brake calipers finished in neon green – the GT range’s colour signature.

Kia has provided no information about the EV4’s powertrain, but speculation suggests that it’ll adopt a twin-motor, all-wheel drive setup. Given the ID.3 GTX puts out 326bhp and the XPower manages 429bhp, it is expected that the EV4 GT will sit within this ballpark.
Given the EV6 GT and EV9 GT come with an eight-speed simulated gearbox and matching internal combustion engine note, it would not come as a surprise of the EV4 GT adopted a similar system to enhance driver engagement.

Earlier this year, Kia’s sister brand, Hyundai, previewed its answer to the Kia EV4 as the Munich motor show. Expected to be named the Hyundai Ioniq 3, the Ioniq 3 is expected to use the Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) as the Kia, opening up suggestions that a performance-focused Ioniq 3 N could become a possibility.
For now, prospective Kia EV4 hatch buyers will have to settle for the standard car, which is priced from £34,695 in entry-level Air guise. Mid-tier and flagship GT-Line and GT-Line S cars start at £39,395 and £43,895 respectively.

In its most efficient form, the Kia EV4 with an 81.4kWh battery is capable of up to 388 miles on a single charge. Thanks to its 400V architecture, a 10-80% charge takes approximately 30 minutes.
